What is coaching?

Coaching helps you focus on what you really want and then develop a plan of action. A SMART plan: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic/relevant and timely.  This brings about structure and trackability to your goals and objectives.  This is a very effective but underused tool in achieving your goals.

Coaching can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, and help identify what is not working in your life.  Coaching helps reinforce self belief and by the end of the process you should feel empowered to tackle any obstacle or achieve your goals.

What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

Coaching works with you to achieve goals in the absence of limiting emotional difficulties e.g. make business work, make new relationships.  Counselling would work with the emotional difficulty which could be an common life issues such as moving home, divorce, bereavement and common mental issues such as anxiety or depression. Goals in coaching are measurable, whereas in counselling they are more subtle and connected to internal emotional well-being. Coaching moves you forward towards your goal, whilst counselling explore ways of to reach life goals, exploring origins of the problem and ways to deal with them.  Coaching is more personal, the coach sometimes revealing more about their experiences and in contrast a counsellor would rarely self-disclose and only if it would help you to move forward in your healing process.
